A good example is today’s first announcement from Facebook about adding AI-avatars-bot on FB and Instagram to improve interaction with users.

The service enables healthcare companies to communicate empathetically, addressing inquiries about scheduling, billing, and FAQs, thereby reducing costs and enhancing operational efficiency. Early tests suggest Carecode's AI agents can perform most tasks of a traditional healthcare call center at a fraction of the cost. The platform currently supports text and audio messages via WhatsApp, with plans to include voice calls in the future. In Brazil, healthcare firms spend about 50% of their revenue on contact centers and administrative payroll, highlighting the potential impact of Carecode's solution.

Researchers from MIT, University College London, and iNaturalist assessed the performance of multimodal vision language models (VLMs) in retrieving relevant wildlife images from large datasets. Using the "INQUIRE" dataset, containing 5 million images and 250 expert-generated search prompts, they found that larger, more advanced VLMs handled straightforward queries effectively but faltered on complex, expert-level searches. For instance, while VLMs could identify jellyfish on a beach, they struggled with technical prompts like detecting axanthism in green frogs. The study suggests that VLMs require more domain-specific training data to be effective tools for ecologists and biodiversity researchers.
