Luxembourg vision for 2030!

ALSO : France's AI Campus Ambition

Hi Synapticians!

Big news! Luxembourg just unveiled its ambitious "Accelerating Digital Sovereignty 2030" initiative and it's a game-changer for anyone working in the tech sector here. With a headline budget of €100 million across the three strategies, this isn't just talk, it's serious investment.

While most countries are still figuring out how to approach artificial intelligence, Luxembourg is going all-in with a comprehensive strategy that connects three powerful domains: data, artificial intelligence, and quantum technologies.

What makes this strategy truly exciting are the concrete initiatives being launched:

  • The national Luxembourg AI Factory, anchored around Belval and backed by Tier IV sovereign data-centers, serving as a one-stop shop for AI development through collaboration between LuxProvide, Luxinnovation, LNDS, University of Luxembourg, and LIST

  • The powerful MeluXina-AI supercomputer with a go-live date of mid-2026 which will be integrated with sovereign cloud solutions and secure data centers to support advanced AI applications

  • A centralized data governance framework built on Bill 8395 (currently in parliamentary review) that will simplify access to high-quality datasets while ensuring security and compliance

  • Creation of a Deep Tech Lab to foster collaboration between academia and industry, accelerating the development of AI solutions for real-world problems

  • Dedicated sector-specific AI hubs focusing on finance, space, cybersecurity, and green economy, with targeted funding opportunities for businesses

  • A focus on developing AI talent and skills through specialized educational programs and training initiatives

  • And many more…

Minister Stephanie Obertin emphasized creating "more centralised governance, reliable and interoperable infrastructures" to ensure Luxembourg maintains control of its data while fostering innovation. The strategy includes exciting projects like a legal LLM, FinTech AI Experience Centre, and a climate digital twin, among others.
