AI for All in France

Hi Synapticians!

France has just rolled out a national programme called “Dare AI” (Osez l’IA), unveiled on 1 July 2025 by Clara Chappaz, the junior minister for AI and Digital Affairs. The goal is simple and bold: make artificial intelligence a day-to-day tool for every French company by 2030, no matter its size or sector.

Why the push? Today only 13 % of SMEs and 8 % of micro-firms use AI, even though studies show it can boost productivity by 20 % and growth by 16 % over ten years. The government wants to flip those numbers so that 100 % of large firms, 80 % of SMEs/ETIs and 50 % of very small businesses adopt AI by the end of the decade.

To get there, the plan leans on three easy-to-grasp pillars:

  • Inspire: a network of 300 AI ambassadors (from entrepreneurs to local champions) will tour the country, sharing real-world success stories and offering first-step guidance

  • Teach: an online AI Academy, launching late 2025, will offer bite-sized tutorials and hands-on modules with the aim of training 15 million people by 2030

  • Support: practical help such as 5 000 co-funded “Data/AI diagnostics”, a catalogue of ready-made AI solutions, and state-backed loans so smaller firms can try, test and scale AI projects with less risk.

Here’s the rest of the news about AI today:

  • Capital One developed an agentic AI system inspired by its organizational structure to boost auto sales, leading to a 55% improvement.

  • Alibaba is launching a $1 million contest for European SMEs, providing a platform for innovative products

  • Amazon has deployed its one millionth robot in its warehouses and introduced a new generative AI model, DeepFleet
